Historically speaking, given centuries of gender inequality, women in the United Sates of America, as elsewhere, have had almost no power and influence in the household, the workplace, and the social-political sphere. Slowly, the situation for women has been changing for the better, and education has been a major factor driving these historical changes.
Unfortunately, the current economic slump in which America finds itself has seen cash resources disappearing very fast, including money to pay for education. And yet, educating the nation is seen as a very necessary means to bring about and prepare for a thriving productive economy. Fortunately, President Barack Obama acknowledges that the key to developing and increasing America’s economic power lies in the education of the nation’s women. For this reason the Obama Administration is making available generous amounts in federal grant funds to send all of America’s women back to school to complete a higher degree. Over $100 billion a year in grants are up for grabs. Of these, $5,300 a year in Federal Pell Grants are available, as well as $2,500 a year in Tuition Tax Grants.
